It was a matter of necessity. Poor management and lack of cash kept the XJ40 in development for about a decade, then when Ford took over, they needed a new model out quick and cheap and had to just do the X300 facelift.

ive been in the market for a new car, and an x308 xjr was on the list. i test drove one, albeit in the rain. i was a little bored, so it went to the bottom of the list. but each time i see a photo of one, i second guess myself. :(
